Carolyn Kashmanian is a bebop and swing jazz vocalist, based in Charlotte, North Carolina who has developed a reputation by performing at local venues, and has become known for her improvisational abilities. Her unique and vintage vocal style follows in the tradition of some of the greatest vocalists in the swing and bebop genres of jazz. 

Carolyn combines the soulful, interpretive rhythms and melodies of singers like Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong, with the range, power, and improvisational ideas of some of swing and bebop’s most influential and pioneering vocalists, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Tormé.

Although Carolyn considers herself a jazz vocalist primarily, she has dabbled in many genres and vocal styles, including musical theater, opera and classical, classic rock, blues and soul, and traditional country and folk. She continues to draw from all of this experience to build her authentic and unique phraseology, and diverse musical vocabulary.
